An award winning photographer, Bert has exhibited his images in numerous competitions. He has won various awards including Best of Show at the 2003 Imaging Professionals of the Southwest conference. He is a member of the Enchanted Lens Camera Club and on the board of directors of the Imaging Professionals of the Southwest and of the New Mexico chapter of Professional Photographers of America.

His love of nature reflected in his photography comes from spending his first 11 years in a small rural community in North Florida. In his youth, the forests, rivers and swamps were no more than a few hundred yards from his home. Even as a teenager growing up in Jacksonville, every possible moment was spent camping or sailing. The forests were never more than a bicycle ride away.

This lifetime love of the outdoors added a new dimension 35 years ago when he moved to New Mexico. The mountains and vast skies of the Southwest quickly replaced the swamps of North Florida. His images reflect the love of the mountains, forests and rivers of New Mexico and the Southwest.

In addition to a lifetime passion with photography, Bert also has almost 40 years of creativity as a scientist. He holds a Ph.D. degree in statistics from The Johns Hopkins University. He has been a professor in the Mathematics Department at the University of New Mexico and Chief of Biometry at the UNM Cancer Research and Treatment Center. He has also done research in such diverse areas as biomedical devices, solar energy, health effects from nuclear energy, and location and detection of land mines.

The images presented in this web site reflect Bert’s diverse passions and skills. He has a love of the little things in nature, the things others might miss. With all his artistic and technical skills, he brings these beautiful elements of our world into your home. He can only hope you enjoy them as much as he does.
